NCAA REGISTRATION JOURNEY

The GPA is only based on the grades you earn in NCAA-approved core courses. Division I requires a minimum 2.3 core-course GPA and Division II requires a minimum 2.2 core-course GPA. Student-athletes from Quebec need a GPA conversion to meet the NCAA eligibility center requirements and if they are already in the university, they should contact the NCAA for transfer eligibility requirements.

However, with the American Academy of Montreal, the 16 NCAA-approved core-course credits that must be taken will be split as follow: 8 core-courses (7 credits) from the American Academy of Montreal NCAA approved core-courses credits and the rest of the 9 credits will be transferred from the Quebec’s NCAA approved core-courses. In addition, student-athletes must earn their Quebec High School Diploma.

Register

During year 9 athlete students should register for a Profile Page account with the NCAA for information on NCAA initial-eligibility requirements. Also, start their NCAA-approved courses for Grade 9 with the AAM.

Plan

Students should take their NCAA-approved courses for Grade 10 with the AAM. In addition, if they are being actively recruited by an NCAA school and have a Profile Page account, they should transition it to the right Certification account. Also, they should monitor the task list in the Eligibility Center account for the next steps. When each school year ends, official transcripts from years 9 and 10 in the native language should be transmitted along with a certified line-by-line English translation. For this purpose, students ought to use Division I and II worksheets to plan accordingly and monitor their progress toward meeting NCAA initial eligibility requirements.

Graduate

Athlete students must check with the AAM to make sure they are on track to complete the required number of NCAA-approved core courses and graduate on time with the class. Students usually request the final amateurism certification beginning April 1 (fall enrollees) or Oct. 1 (winter/spring enrollees) in the Eligibility Center account. Finally, they must take the SAT/ACT and submit their scores to the Eligibility Center using the school code. When each school year ends, the official transcripts from years nine and up, in your native language including a certified line-by-line English translation must be submitted.
