Student in Library

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Learning is developed on a digital platform where students have access to a personal storage «cloud» where they can find the syllabus, exercises, and academic content. Students submit their exercises, activities, projects, and tests through an attractive, modern, user-friendly Learning Management System (LMS).

The program is designed to be taken asynchronously with a certain degree of comfort over two or three years (starting in Grade 9/Sec 3), in such a way that students simultaneously take classes at their Quebec high school along with taking 2 to 3 AAM courses per year.

Students will have live sessions with the teachers using Microsoft Teams. These communication sessions aim to strengthen knowledge, detect and clarify difficulties, and eventually, have a strong command of oral communication.

Teachers will establish contact timetables and will be available for students and parents on the days and at the times entered on their official timetables. The LMS is accessible 24 hours per day and the school has office hours from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm (Eastern Standard Time).

Overview

When do students start their dual diplomas?

The best time to start the Dual Diploma is when a student reaches Grade 9 (Sec 3). When students start in Grade 9, they would have to complete between 2 and 3 courses from the Academy per school year. However, since the program can be completed at the students' own pace, it is possible for them to start the Dual Diploma in Grade 10 or 11.

How many courses are needed?

A student following a regular course load in Quebec High School would typically need to take between 6 to 9 courses, over a period of 3 years, to obtain the dual diploma. The AAM course load depends on the students’ curriculum, which is why the AAM will make a personalized plan for each student to make sure that all the needed credits are obtained to get the Dual Diploma.

When can I take the courses?

The courses are virtually offered and accessible 24/7. A student has a limit of 10 months (one term) to complete a course(s). Students can study at their own pace, on their own schedule. In General, students should spend between 4 and 6 hours a week on each course.

What is LMS?

Students will have access to a personalized Learning Management System (LMS) where they will access their courses, materials, and much more.

Can I communicate with the teachers?

Parents and students have access to progress reports and can communicate at their desired frequency with the teachers from each course. It is possible to follow your child's progress online and support them where support is needed.

The parents can also communicate with the staff for any questions or concerns.

Who gives the courses?

Certified and accredited teachers located in the United States are giving the courses. The program and the courses are completely homologated by the US Department of Education, and the program offers the chance of obtaining a private American high school diploma from an American high school.
